Bio Jawn

I’m a Philadelphia native and proud (very!). I am in love with the peoples and culture of the City of Brotherly Love. I love to attend creative and cultural functions, and learning the history of this city, and its position in relation to the nation and world.

Our ‘millennial’ generation is quite focused on revolutionary rhetoric and action. I believe that ‘the revolution’ can be interpreted as an on-going process of progressive social change. And, that it requires maintaining the free evolution and expression of the arts. Art belongs central to society and an economy that requires ideas and imagination. Given that belief, I’m a longtime enthusiast and facilitator of young adult arts, culture, and resources. I am working at better developing and positioning myself to serve even better. In advocating for the arts, not surprisingly, I found myself identifying as an artist and creative professional. I am a writer — a poet, proser, and social commentator.

Mainly through varied volunteerism, providing affordable services, and selective connectivity, I support marginalized creatives and what resources them. I host, plan, produce, and consult for public projects, programs, and establishments that give platform to the seldom heard. I am better developing these skills with every experience had. Young, Black, urban creatives are my main focus, being my natural clan and all, as well as some of the most marginalized people in America. Since 2007, I have grown from a community and youth affairs sector volunteerism-obsessed teenager into a young adult freelancer/contractor. I operate as a consultant and as a public projects producer for a few great teams.

I love to write and am aiming to make a career of it. As an amateur journalist, I’ve published arts & cultures articles via outlets including The Hip Hop Party for the People, LyricallyFit, and CRED Philly magazine. My various creative writings can be read on this site. And, my poetry will be published in 2015 by Silent Noise Publishing, as part of “A Literary Assault”; a poetry anthology of the American experience. I am super hype for that. I am also working on a book of poetry and mixed arts that I hope to finish in 2015 (sheesh!).

I am skilled in indie talent scouting, curation, booking, and management, as well as live show and mixer production and social media management. I am the general manager and ‘minister of information‘ for the Sëla Collective, an innovative group of young adult musical and multimedia specialists based in Philadelphia, PA.

I am a seasoned stage host, and I love it. This path has opened doors for me to further not only my development, but has allowed me much more effective platforms to promote the greatness of my peers. I am ‘the one’, if you need good vibes and grand energy at your affair.

For whatever (to hire, to chat, to offer advice), feel free to reach out to me. ^_^
